Canning workshop promotes food preservation in Springfield
Food enthusiasts and DIYers in the Springfield area will want to make a note in their journals, as a canning workshop is set to teach new skills.
The Canning Workshop: Pickles with Audra learning experience will provide an arsenal of tips, techniques, and the necessary steps to begin pickling and canning from home. Audra, the event’s instructor, will create a welcoming and inclusive environment to learn how to preserve the abundance of crops from summer harvests.
Students will learn modern techniques and take home a jar of pickles at the workshop’s conclusion to share with friends and family. Guests will also receive a printed document containing safe ingredients and recipes to try at home, using the skills taught in the seminar. Printing services are a fantastic way to provide additional learning opportunities and materials at such workshops.
Audra will provide insights on the science of canning and the steps to use when getting started. The workshop is open to interested parties of all experience levels, and beginners are welcome. The class requires a minimum of four students to register, and a maximum capacity of eight participants.
Heartbeat Gardens in Springfield will host the pickling workshop on Sunday, July 13, from noon to 2:00 PM. The doors open at 11:45 AM. Tickets can be purchased online for $39.19 per student.
