The Cuyahoga County Public Library (CCPL) system is looking for volunteers to help with an upcoming event.
CCPL is holding a children's book drive early in the New Year to benefit Cleveland Kids Book Bank and Reach Out and Read. The first is a nonprofit organization of medical providers who promote early literacy among pediatric patients, while the second gives free Books to kids in need. Library patrons are encouraged to visit their local CCPL branch to give away either new Books, or those that are used but in good shape. They are also asked to write encouraging messages in the Books for young readers.
The drive is scheduled to begin January 2 and run through Monday, January 16, 2017. January 16 is Martin Luther King Day, and is a day of service in honor of the late Dr. King and his legacy of serving others.
On January 16, volunteers will be needed to sort Books at CCPL branches. On January 18 and 19, volunteers will be asked to come to the administrative offices of the CCPL in Parma, where they will sort and package Books from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm on both days. Finally, drivers will be needed to deliver the Books to Reach Out and Read locations, which can be found throughout the county.
Efforts like this can benefit if organizers work with flyer printing companies to create mailers about the drive to send to area residents.Get a Free Quote for Books
