Four new courts will be added between the existing ice rink and roller hockey court on what is now a vacant parcel of land before the year’s end. Mayor DeGeeter said:
“We were probably one of the first communities going back to install pickleball courts. We’re also going to increase parking over at Ries Park for not only those pickleball enthusiasts, but also parents and grandparents during the summer watching youngsters playing T-ball and ... baseball and softball at those five diamonds.”
Brochure printing services are helpful at detailing the amenities a city has to offer, including its recreation opportunities.
DeGeeter recognized and expressed appreciation to Mark Casselberry, the Cuyahoga County Councilman, for obtaining $151,000 to cover the expense of the new pickleball courts via a Cuyahoga County Community Development Grant. The cost of adding 48 new spaces, amounting to $76,000, will be provided by the city of Parma. The added parking spots will be north of the present Ries Park parking lot.
On the subject of recreational news, the mayor explained that Parma is searching for somewhere to put the sand volleyball courts after they had to be removed for the completion of the Veterans Basin project by the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District.
