Parma's Touch a Truck is so popular the event is moving.
The free Touch a Truck outing allows kids – and parents - to climb into the city's safety vehicles. They also have a chance to talk with first responders. Flyer printing can be used at events like this to describe each vehicle and the service undertaken.
According to Chelsey Kovar, who is the director of the event, the response has been so huge it was decided to move Touch a Truck to a larger space that has plenty of parking. The event will relocated from the University Hospitals Parma Health Education Center, where it has been held for the past four years, to The Shoppes at Parma.
There will be over 20 vehicles at the event this year including a limousine, mail truck, monster truck, school bus, ambulance, and police car. The UH Med Evac chopper is also slated to drop in. Activities aimed at the children include a play area, balloon animals, and face painting.
Kovar noted that Touch a Truck has a huge impact on children, because they're very tactile and enjoy holding the steering wheels and honking the horns. Previous years, Kovar said, brought out around 4,000 people; this year, he expects to see more than 5,000 people enjoying the day.
This year, Touch a Truck will be held August 24, from noon until 4.00 pm, on the Shoppes' Day Drive side. From noon until 1.00 pm, the event will be sensory friendly.
