One of the biggest occasions of the summer for Parma residents is ‘Parma Night’, an event held at Progressive Field in Cleveland, when the Indians have a home game. This year, Parma residents who attend will watch a game between the Indians and the New York Yankees.
In addition to enjoying the game, there are some other experiences on tap for the Parma residents and coaches attending the event, including a parade before the game. Also, this year the event takes place on the Carlos Carrasco Bobblehead Night, which means the first 12,500 fans to enter the stadium will be given a bobblehead. Carrasco, a pitcher, has been sidelined since mid-June, after he took a line drive to the elbow.
Perhaps the most intriguing part of the entire night is a raffle to win the chance to throw out the game's first pitch. Traditionally, the honor has gone to the mayor of Parma, but for the past six years, Mayor Tim DeGeeter has given up the privilege, and instead raffled off the opportunity to Parma's young people. Any Parma resident under the age of 17 who bought a ticket for Parma Night in advance might win the opportunity to make that first throw.
Parma Night at Progressive Field is scheduled for Thursday, July 12, and the game starts at 7.10 pm. Organizers of this type of event might work with a banner printing company to make a special piece recognizing attendees.
