Parmas bicentennial celebration preparation underway
Parma was founded in 1826, and the city is in the process of gearing up for a blowout bicentennial celebration that among other activities will include the opening of a time capsule buried 50 years ago in front of Parma City Hall.
According to Mayor Tim DeGeeter, city officials are ramping up their discussions concerning the bicentennial as 2025 is on the horizon. Some options being discussed include placing new activities on the Parma City Calendar, one of which would be possible bicentennial decorating competitions across the city.
Large citywide celebrations provide opportunities for a wide assortment of businesses to bring attention to themselves with the help of banner printing services along with other promotional materials.
A number of organizations including the nonprofit We Are Parma Proud, local businesses, and community partners are working with the city on its 200th-anniversary celebration. The bicentennial event aligns perfectly with the mission of We Are Parma Proud, as the group’s spokesperson Chris Leo explained:
A big part of the event will be the opening up of a time capsule buried in 1976 and the filling of a 2026-time capsule.
