Parma to sail away with 'yacht rock'

A popular Cleveland party band is getting set to rock Parma at a Holidayish event.

Böaterhead, who formerly went by the name of Yacht Rock Cleveland, is a six-piece outfit that plays the songs popular from the late 1970s to the early 1980s, a pop genre now often called “yacht rock.”

The name can be taken literally, as the subject of the music is often sailing, or the beach – especially as part of the lifestyle in Southern California. The sound is generally described as soft rock, or adult-oriented rock, and draws on disco, funk, R&B, smooth jazz, and smooth soul to create the unique sound. Traits of this genre are catchy tunes and clean vocals; the Beach Boys are usually thought of as the group that pioneered the sound. Others associated with yacht rock are Steely Dan, the Bee Gees, Huey Lewis & the News, and Toto.

Böaterhead plays the music of all these artists and more. Among the songs on their setlist are “Africa” by Toto; Styx's “Come Sail Away”; and “Baker Street” by Gerry Rafferty. A review of the band says:

“Universally, everyone loved Böaterhead!”

Böaterhead's Legendary Holidayish Yacht Rock Party is scheduled for November 28 at 8:00 pm at Legends Sports Bar & Grill. Flyer printing can be used to create handouts to advertise events like this.
