Parma to host interactive vehicle display

One of the most popular events for youngsters is coming to Parma, as the city prepares for its annual Touch a Truck event.

The Parma Early Childhood PTA (PECPTA) is sponsoring the event, the fourth for the community. The first hour is a designated quiet time, so children who have sensory issues can enjoy the day. During this period, attendees will not be honking any horns on participating vehicles. However, noise is definitely on the program, as a helicopter is scheduled to land and take off twice during the day.

Among the vehicles on display are a police car, fire truck, and monster trucks. Balloon animals, face painting, and activities in a play area are also on the schedule, as are concessions.

Part of the money raised will go to PECPTA to help support its Sarah Kyker Scholarship, an award made to a senior graduating from high school in the Parma City School District.

Although admission is free, attendees are asked to contribute either nonperishable foods, or canned goods, for the Parma Hunger Center. Cash donations are also welcome, and will be given to the Parma Animal Shelter. Organizations like this could use flyer printing to create information sheets for attendees, describing their mission.

Touch a Truck is set for September 16, from noon until 5:00 pm, at the Parma Health Education Center at University Hospital on State Road. The helicopter will touch down and take off at 1:00 pm, and again at 2:30 pm.
