Parma scholarship foundation opens up to applicants

Applications are now being accepted for the 2017 award season, presented by the Board of Trustees of the City of Parma Andrew Boyko Memorial Scholarship Foundation.

The Foundation offers between three and five scholarships every year, each with an award of at least $1,500. This is the 10th year the Foundation has made the money available.

One of the scholarships is reserved for a particular applicant who has demonstrated a special commitment to serving the community. Applications can be downloaded from the City of Parma’s website, or picked up at the Parma City Hall, any Parma City School District high school, or any of the branches of the Parma Cuyahoga County Public Library.

The scholarships are designed to offer financial help to Parma residents who are either seniors in high school or the equivalent, and who want to begin work on their higher education degrees during the academic year 2017-18. The criteria for choosing the recipients includes their accomplishments, community service, work ethic, and, of course, financial need.

The money will be paid directly to the accredited university or college, and must be used during the term indicated. Prior recipients cannot be given the award a second time.

The deadline to apply for the scholarships is March 31st. Organizations like this can benefit by working with a postcard printing company, which can create Postcards to mail to residents, reminding them of the opportunity.
