For the 24th year in a row, the Parma Area Chamber of Commerce – along with Phillips Edison & Company, The Shoppes at Parma, and The Illuminating Company – hosted the Rib 'N Rock Cook Off from June 5th – 8th.
According to a news item dated June 10th, the event was a rousing success, and everyone enjoyed the new venue, which was The Shoppes at Parma.
The event had a number of corporate sponsors, including Coca Cola, Bud Light, and the Hampton Inn on Tiedeman. Other smaller concerns also lent their support, including Greystone Veterinary Hospital and Dickey's Barbecue Pit. The City of Parma was a sponsor, as was the mayor, Timothy DeGeeter, along with UH Parma Medical Center and many others.
Vendors were mostly companies that sell ribs and barbecue, including Jack on the Bone, MOJO's, and Armadillo's. Other food vendors included Euclid Beach Custard, the Little Polish Diner, and D Kay's Belgian Waffles.
Much of the fun of such an event is choosing the winners. In this case, the whimsically-named Butch's Smack Your Lips BBQ of New Jersey took First Place for Best Sauce, while the award for Best Ribs went to Armadillo's Rib & Que Co.
Festival organizers could start planning now for next year by working with a flyer printing company to create an application for the next event.
