Parma gets new thrift store

A Savers Thrift Store is scheduled to open in Parma very soon, and residents will be able to find merchandise for under $10.

This is the second Savers store to open in Northeast Ohio. The company is based in Seattle, and operates more than 330 stores throughout the country. The entire stock of the stores is made of up donations, and the store has the capacity to collect donations on site.

In addition, Savers is partnering with Easter Seals of Northeast Ohio, a local charity, to collection donations. Easter Seals also provides services to the disabled, both adults and children. When the stores collect items from the nonprofit organization, it pays for them.

Ron Forrai is the manager of the new store, which comprises about 28,000 square feet. He says he has 63 employees, 46 of whom work with the donations, sorting and pricing them. Forrai says the store may have as many as 5,000-7,000 new items come in each night, and the average price throughout the store is $4.62.

The new store is having its grand opening on Thursday, September 24, at 9:00 am. However, people who have Savers loyalty cards will be able to visit the new store on Tuesday, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. The store is at 7100 Brookpark Road.

Forrai might consider working with a banner printing company to create a festive banner to display over the door to celebrate the opening.
