Parma care facility to open soon

Mount Alverna Village in Parma is adding a new center for rehabilitation, memory care, and life enrichment.

The Ancora Memory Support Center has been underway for over six months, and is now nearing completion. The support facility is a built-from-the-ground-up building that offers 42 beds across 35,000 square feet. The Life Enrichment and Rehabilitation Center added another 10,000 square feet to the 126,000 square feet already in use. The facilities are expected to open in August.

Sister Joseph Marie Zenda said the memory support center is split into three neighborhoods, each one comprising 14 beds. Each provides care to people who have dementia of any form. She added that until now, only limited memory care was available at the facility.

The center's atmosphere is as home-like as possible, Zenda says, and she revealed that the center is using the latest technology and methods to stimulate peoples' minds so they can enjoy a full life despite their illness.

Patrick Welsh, the executive director of Mount Alverna Village, said the new enhancements will benefit everyone, including seniors as well as their friends and family. The addition of the life enrichment center will allow space for outpatient therapy and physical therapy, which could not be accommodated before.
