Anthony Salem recently opened his massotherapy salon in Parma, Ohio, and will have an official ribbon-cutting in a few days. His shop, Big Creek Massotherapy, is on Brookpark Road.
Salem dreamed of owning his own salon while he worked at another such facility, and has worked for the past 12 years as a massotherapist. The term is a portmanteau of “massage” and “therapist” indicating a person who uses massage to help alleviate some medical conditions. Massotherapy is considered a holistic technique, since it helps relax the muscles in the body by reducing the heart rate. It can also lower blood pressure, boost the lymphatic system, improve blood circulation, and increase the release of endorphins—natural painkillers manufactured by the body.
At Big Creek Massotherapy, patrons can opt for relaxation, deep tissue, or therapeutic massage. In addition, they have the option of asking for a Reiki massage, performed by a certified master of the Japanese technique.
Four other massotherapists are working with Salem at his new business. He also helps support other small, local companies by offering locally-made, all-natural body care products from OR the Alternative, and Original You.
This Wednesday, January 11, the Parma Area Chamber of Commerce and Tim DeGeeter, Parma's mayor, will be at the salon for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the business officially. Everyone is invited.
Businesses like this can benefit by working with flyer printing companies, which can create handouts, including coupons, to invite new patrons to the store.
