Fitness information program coming to Parma

Cuyahoga Community College's (Tri-C) Western Campus in Parma will be the site of a program about fitness and healthy living soon.

The program, titled ‘Exercise is Medicine on Campus’, is free and is open to everyone. It was developed by the American College of Sports Medicine as part of its global health initiative, which has as its goal encouraging people to be physically active and develop a healthy lifestyle, so they can avoid developing various chronic diseases.

Attendees at the event may have their vertical jump, hand grip, and bicep curl strength assessed. There will also be health screenings available, including an analysis of body fat, and tests for blood pressure. Students in the massage therapy program at Tri-C will give chair massages, and samples of healthy food will be provided. Events like this can benefit if organizers use flyer printing to develop handouts for attendees, discussing the concepts presented.

The exercise and sport studies program at Tri-C – which trains students who are interested in careers as fitness experts, personal trainers, and other professions related to good health – is sponsoring the event. Information on Tri-C's programs in general, and about the Exercise is Medicine program in particular, is available on the college's website.

The program is scheduled for 10:00 am until 2:00 pm this Thursday, April 25, on the Tri-C Western Campus on Pleasant Valley Road.
