Residents of Parma have an amazing day coming up.
The Great Amazing Race Company has organized an event for Parma that will support both research into pediatric cancer, and the organization's 30 Minutes-a-Day Academic Initiatives. The race is modeled on the “Amazing Race” television program, in which contestants form teams to complete skills tests, and compete against other teams in similar age ranges.
In the upcoming Parma race, teams composed of two people will cover a 1.5-mile course featuring a number of stations where they will find out what the “challenge” is, whether mental or physical. Cards at the various stops will instruct the team in what task they must finish, either individually or together, before they can move on to the next task. How well the partners work together will be the single most important aspect of the contest.
The winners will be those who finish the tasks and have the best times. The race is open to all ages, and teams may be comprised of two adults, two children, or one adult and one child. There are two courses as well, one easier to finish, and aimed at children and “leisure” teams; the more difficult course is for active partners and adults.
The Great Amazing Race is scheduled for August 1, starting at 5:00 pm, at Parma's James Day Park. Banner printing can provide course markers for events like this.
