Mansfield alpaca farm to invite residents to learn a new skill

Those in Mansfield looking to pick up a new hobby may be interested in an upcoming fiber arts class.

The beginner-friendly event will teach registered students how to crochet using alpaca wool on a currently operating alpaca farm.

The session is designed to take those attending from first principles, such as how to hold the hook and yarn, to a completed headband in an afternoon. While the supplies provided will not be from the alpacas in residence, there will be a limited amount of yarn sold created from the local alpacas directly.

Attendees are also able to purchase a pocket guide that outlines the most common stitches in a small format. While not necessary for the class, many new stitchers will find it useful. Small, supplemental items for classes such as this may be outsourced to local Print shops, which can save the host organization time and effort.

The class will take place on August 22 from 1 pm - 3:30 pm at Alpaca Meadows located at 1200 Rock Rd in Mansfield. The fee for this session is $42, which includes the yarn required for the project. Registrants will need to supply their own crochet hook or purchase one as an add-on to their class ticket. Participants should be at least 16 years old, however those aged 12-15 are invited as long as they and an accompanying adult both have tickets and attend the class together.
