Mansfield gardens plan culinary make-and-take

Ohio is joining their states in celebrating America's 250th birthday, and in keeping with its theme of “Ohio Outdoors: Exploring Ohio’s Natural Resources,” Mansfield will take a page from Mother Nature.

Finishing salts and sugars can help to elevate a dish, adding an extra dash of flavour. These will be the focus of an upcoming workshop offered at Kingwood Center Gardens, and everyone will go home with samples they can use in their own kitchen.

The hour-long class will introduce simple methods for preparing the items, and attendees will be supplied with fresh herbs harvested from the venue’s garden, tying in with the outdoor theme. These will then be utilized in preparing custom blends. Everyone is reminded to bring a pair of gardening gloves if they wish, and both members and nonmembers are welcome to sign up, with fees starting at $28 for members and $35 for nonmembers.

A hands-on crafting or culinary class may be especially appealing to those who prefer practical learning. Jar labels, ingredient lists, recipe cards, and other custom items can be ordered from a local printer able to supply in-house graphic design options.

This tasty way to help wish the USA happy 250th birthday will be on offer on Thursday, June 18. It will start at 5:30 pm, and tickets can be purchased through the Gardens’ website.
