Winter in Mansfield is mostly a chilly affair, but thanks to a local venue, those who call the city home will be treated to a taste of the tropics right in their own community.
Kingwood Center Gardens has invited local home horticulturists and other plant fans to be part of a sneak peek into its day-to-day operations. It will be led by a member of list staff, and it will take one hour to complete.
The guide for the session will lead the group through the venue’s Display Greenhouse, pointing out interesting species and cultivars along the way. There will be an assortment of orchids set up in display for Winter’s Interlude, and a visit to the venue’s propagation area will also be included. Everyone can ask any questions they might have, and both members and non-members are welcome to join the fun. Advance registration has been requested.
A greenhouse can offer a taste of summer even in the heart of winter, and the public may appreciate the opportunity to enjoy an in-person visit. Plant tags, maps, and other materials for a venue can be ordered from a brochure printing company.
This chance to get an insider’s view of the greenhouse at Kingwood is scheduled to start at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 3. Tickets for non-members are $12 each, while members pay $8.
