The Dayton suburb of Kettering is going to start the holiday season with a traditional event that everyone will enjoy.
The mayor of Kettering, Peggy Lehner, will light the Kettering Christmas Tree for the holiday season. The ceremony will take place in Lincoln Park, and is the first time Mayor Lehner will perform the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony since her election in 2021.
At the tree lighting, festival organizers will have cookies and hot chocolate for everyone to enjoy, and traditional Christmas carols will be sung by the Kettering Children’s Choir. There is no charge to attend the lighting or any of the activities available during the event.
The Santa Paws event is back as well and will take place along with the Mayor’s Tree Lighting. Pet parents are encouraged to bring their dogs and their cameras to take photos of their furry friends. Lincoln Park will make the perfect backdrop for the shot.
The event organizers have said this year they are supporting the Kettering Backpack Program, and are asking people who plan to attend the tree lighting to bring cups of instant mac and cheese as donations. Kettering Backpack discreetly gives Bags of food to local children in need each Friday.
Organizers of events like these can add to the fun by using banner printing to create seasonal decorations sturdy enough for outdoor use.
