A multi-award-winning star of music and film is on the way to Kettering.
Harry Connick, Jr., is a native of a city synonymous with music, New Orleans. He was three when he began learning how to play keyboards and gave his first public performance when he was five. When he was nine, Connick appeared with the New Orleans Symphony, playing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 Opus 37, and by the time he was ten, he was recording jazz with a local band. His career has only built from there, and now includes television and film work, in addition to music.
He has released both vocal and instrumental albums. His 1990 vocal album, “We Are in Love,” won a Grammy, as did his 2001 vocal album “Songs I Heard.” Five other vocal albums were nominated for Grammys, and 11 of these albums went to No. 1 on the jazz chart.
Connick has also been successful as an actor. Unlike artists who appear as themselves, or host a show, Connick played characters in such films as 1998’s “Hope Floats,” and “Find Me Falling” (2024). On television, he had a recurring role on “Will & Grace” as Leo Markus, Grace Adler’s (Debra Messing) husband.
Harry Connick, Jr., will be at the Fraze Pavilion in Kettering on July 19. The performance is scheduled for 7.30 pm. Venues that schedule artists like this can help support them by using poster printing to create colorful advertisements.
