Popular event returns to Kettering

One of Kettering’s most popular events is back.

The Rosewood Arts Center is presenting the 37th Annual Art on the Commons, a festival of fine arts and crafts. Organizers anticipate that about 100 artists from throughout the country will be there, and expect several thousand attendees to join them.

In addition to the artists and their works, live music is also on the schedule. The bands are Ozzi Zappia playing at 11:15 am, The Nautical Theme (12:20 pm), The Bruins (1:25 pm), Anna Marie (2:30 pm), and Frank Calzada and Friends (3:35 pm).

A wide variety of food will be available from Ernie’s, located at the Fraze Pavilion, as well as the Hamburger Wagon, Sweet P’s, Gary’s Italian Ice, Claybourne Grille, A Cut Above, El Meson, and Bella Sorella Pizza.

Demonstrations are a fun part of the day, and artists will showcase and discuss wire-wrapping jewelry, printmaking, watercolor, wheel pottery, handbuilding, plein air painting, metalsmithing jewelry, and figure drawing. The wire-wrapping begins at 11:00 am and runs until 4:00 pm. The printmaking class also starts at 11:00 am, and all others begin on the hour.

The event is on Sunday, August 10 from 11.00 am until 5.00 pm in two locations, the Fraze Pavilion, and Lincoln Park Civic Commons. The event is free and open to the public. Neither pets nor coolers will be allowed, and Bags and purses must be 12”x12”x6” or smaller. Larger Bags must be left in vehicles. When they plan events like this, organizers could use flyer printing to create a schedule of events.
