Melt the Ice 5K returns to Fremont

The Fremont Elite Runners Club will bring back its annual Melt the Ice 5K this March.

The event welcomes both runners and walkers, offering an accessible course for participants of varying experience levels.

Proceeds from the race will benefit the Fremont Exchange Club, reinforcing the event’s community-focused mission. Organizers note that the race will proceed regardless of weather conditions unless safety concerns require cancellation.

Registration is offered through multiple options. Advance sign-up by mail is available for $25 through March 6th, with event shirts guaranteed for those who register early. Online entry is also $25 and remains open until March 15th, with the same shirt assurance. Race-day enrollment costs $30, with limited shirt availability and a $2 surcharge for size 2XL. On-site registration opens at 8:30 am and closes 15 minutes prior to the starting signal.

Awards will be presented to the top female and male finishers overall, along with the top three participants in each age division. Categories range from nine and under through 70 and above, ensuring recognition across a wide demographic.

Print shops are usually utilized by events such as this one to produce race bibs.

The Melt the Ice 5K will take place Saturday, March 21st, with the race scheduled from 10 am to 12 pm. The start and finish line will be located at the Strand Theater, 220 South Front St., Fremont, Ohio.
