Fremont to explore hand-built pottery

Pottery Perfection will offer a hands-on clay workshop in Fremont this September.

This workshop will give individuals an opportunity to create original ceramic pieces without using a pottery wheel.

Participants ages 10 and older are welcome to participate, and no previous ceramics experience is required. Cindy, the instructor, will guide attendees through fundamental hand-building methods while encouraging them to develop projects based on their own creative ideas.

During the two-hour class, participants will shape their clay into pots, dishes, figurines, or other original designs. The studio emphasizes artistic experimentation and individual expression through practical learning experiences for different skill levels. Pottery Perfection also provides a variety of arts and crafts classes intended to introduce newcomers to creative techniques while giving experienced makers opportunities to strengthen their abilities.

Registration for the workshop is free, but participants must reserve a place by September 25 and purchase their clay when they arrive. One pound of clay costs $15 per person, while two pounds costs $25 per person.

Both options include the first kiln firing. Finished projects will be fired within two weeks. Participants may return afterward to decorate their work with acrylic paint at no additional charge. Those choosing a glazed finish instead can request another kiln firing for an additional $15 per item, payable when the finished piece is collected.

Organizers often use flyer printing to promote art classes, and community activities such as this one.

The date of the event will be Saturday, September 26 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Pottery Perfection, 206 S. Front Street, Fremont.
