Marcus King, who is from Greenville, South Carolina, is the son of Marvin King, who was a popular blues guitarist. His grandfather was also popular in the state, so it seems logical that he too became a musician. By the time he was eight, he joined his father on stage, and by the time he was 11, he appeared on one of the albums his father released. He had his own band in his teens and the group called their style “soul-influenced psychedelic Southern rock.”
King approached music academically, which he decided to pursue full time in a disciplined and academic way. He studied his favorite guitarists, particularly Duane Allman, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Albert King, and B.B. King, and went on to study jazz performance and theory with Steve Watson at Greenville’s Fine Arts Center.
He began his recording career in 2014 with “Soul insight,” and has released six albums thus far, the latest being 2024’s “Mood Swings.” The titles indicate that his material is personal and often reflects his personal struggles. A review of Marcus King in concert says:
“Marcus is a legend in the making. I expect nothing but greatness for many years to come.”
Marcus King will be at the Hard Rock Cincinnati Ballroom on December 28. Organizers often use Posters to promote shows like this, which they can design at Print shops.Get a Free Quote for Print Get a Free Quote for Posters
