Tribute to Dave Matthews heads to Cincinnati

A tribute band that has been bringing Dave Matthews’ music to his fans for almost 20 years will be in Cincinnati soon.

The Trippin Billies are based in Chicago but have traveled throughout the country, performing at many of the same venues as Dave Matthews. According to station WXRT in Chicago, the Trippin Billies’ musicianship and high-energy performances will have audiences on their feet, and fans of the original Dave Matthews Band (DMB) will be even more pleased with what they see and hear. According to Relix magazine, Trippin’ Billies is one of the country’s five best tribute bands.

Also according to WXRT, the Trippin' Billies are comprised of some of Chicago’s best musicians. The current lineup has six members: Pat McKillen, lead vocalist and guitarist, who joined the band in 2022; drummer and vocalist Kelsey Traver, who has opened for artists like Chaka Khan and Gladys Knight, and has won three Chicago Music Awards; violinist Phil Roach, who has been playing since he was five; vocalist and bassist Mendell Beckford, who has performed with stars like Mary Mary, and Take 6; saxophonist Steve Schnall, who has advanced degrees in music and has shared the stage with legends like Aretha Franklin; and Eric Justen on electric guitar. Justen has worked with the Broadway In Chicago production of “Jersey Boys.”

The Trippin’ Billies will be at the Ludlow Garage on November 29. Events like this can increase attendance when organizers use poster printing to promote them.
