Latin band from LA coming to Cincinnati

A band that is described as a funk, jazz, rock, hip hop, salsa, and Latin group will be appearing soon at the Ludlow Garage.

Ozomatli got together in 1995, founded by musicians who met as they were attempting to create a workers’ union. The sizeable original group had 11 members who began to build a following playing local clubs, which led to an appearance on “Vibe!”, a late-night talk show. In 1998, they released their debut album “Ozomatli,” which soared to No. 7 on the Billboard Latin Albus chart, where it remained for 71 weeks. Carlos Santana invited the band to tour with him in 1999.

Ozomatli released “Embrace the Chaos,” their second album, in 2001, and watched it rocket to the No. 1 sport on both the Billboard Latin Pop Album chart and the Billboard Latin Album chart.

They released “Street Signs,” their third album, in 2004. It won two Grammys, one for Best Alternative Music Album and one for Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album. It also won critical praise.

Ozomatli were U.S. Cultural Ambassadors and were sent on several tours sponsored by the government. They also wrote a song for the Los Angeles Dodgers, and have performed with orchestras across the country. A review says:

“Ozomatli puts on one of the most fun shows that I've ever been to.”

Ozomatli will be at the Ludlow Garage on August 24. Organizers of shows like this could work with poster printing methods to advertise them.
