Guitar masters come to Cincinnati

Two celebrated guitarists will bring their new band to Cincinnati.

Iconic guitarists Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, who have been friends and musical collaborators for more than 50 years, enjoyed a successful European tour last summer, when they formed their new band, SATCHVAI. They are now on their “Surfing with the Hydra” tour, and Cincinnati is one of their stops. SATCHVAI includes the two founders as well as bassist Marco Mendoza, Kenny Aronoff on drums, and Pete Thorn on guitar.

Joe Satriani is from Westbury, New York, and began his career among other things, as a guitar instructor. Steve Vai was one of his students. Satriani began to enjoy a successful solo career in the mid-1980s, has been nominated for the Grammy Award 15 times, and sold more than ten million albums. Mick Jagger recruited Satriani to perform as Jagger’s lead guitarist on his initial solo tour.

Steve Vai has sold more than 15 million records and is a three-time Grammy winner. He has recorded with artists such as David Lee Roth, Frank Zappa, Whitesnake, and others. He is from Carle Place, New York.

Animals as Leaders are backing up the SATCHVAI Band. The Animals formed in 2007 in Washington, D.C., and are progressive instrumental metal band. The group comprises Tosin Abasi on guitar, drummer Matt Garstka, and Javier Reyes on eight-string guitars.

SATCHVAI will appear at the PNC Pavilion on May 8. Advertisements created using poster printing can help support shows like this.
