A musician known for his bluegrass music is on the way to Cincinnati.
Vincent Grant Gill, who goes by Vince Gill, is a songwriter and singer who could be found playing bluegrass in several bands in the 1970s. He first came to public notice as lead singers of Pure Prairie League, a soft rock band. From there, he briefly joined the Cherry Bombs, the backing band for Rodney Crowell, before setting out on his own.
Gill began his career with RCA Records, which released his first two albums. His career began to climb when MCA Nashville signed him in 1989 and released his third effort, 1989’s “When I Call Your Name,” which proved to be his breakthrough. The album climbed to No. 2 on the Billboard US Top Country Albums chart and was rated Platinum in both the United States and Canada.
He has charted on the Billboard country music charts over 60 times, with several solo efforts making it to the top spot including “Tryin’ to Get Over You,” and “I Still Believe in You.” Gill has won 22 Grammys, one of the best records for solo male country artists.
Critics and fans alike know Gill for his work as lead guitarist, his tenor voice, and his songwriting ability, which shines in both uptempo work and ballads. He plays mandolin, guitar, Dobro, and guitar, and will be at the Taft Theatre on July 17. Using poster printing, organizers of events like this can help publicize them.
