One of the most respected names in rap is on the way to perform at a venue in Cincinnati.
Trevor George Smith Jr., otherwise known as Busta Rhymes, is a native of Brooklyn, New York. Born to Jamaican parents, he has produced some of rap’s biggest artists over the course of his career.
Smith’s family moved to Long Island when he was 12, and he later went on to graduate from Uniondale High School there in 1991. By that time, he was already rapping.
His group, Leaders of the New School, was so successful they had signed with Elektra Records and opened for Public Enemy before Smith was out of high school. The group’s first record, “A Future Without a Past…” dropped in 1991, and although not a huge hit, three of the tracks later made it to the top ten on the Billboard Hot Rap singles chart.
The group eventually split up, and in 1996, Smith debuted with his solo single “Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check,” and solidified his success in 1998 with “Extinction Level Event (Final World Front),” which won outstanding reviews and spawned the hit “What’s It Gunna Be?!” with Janet Jackson.
Busta Rhymes will now be at the Andrew J Brady Music Center on Thursday, April 18. Organizers of events like this often use poster printing to promote upcoming concerts.
