Gabriel Iglesias, a San Diego native, has had an interesting career, working in film and television in addition to maintaining a heavy touring schedule as a standup comedian.
In 1997, he was working in Los Angeles at a call center when he decided to pursue a full-time career in comedy. In 2000, he appeared on “All That,” a sketch comedy series on Nickelodeon, and in 2007, he voiced an entire Mexican family on an episode of the animated series “Family Guy.” He also hosted a show, “Gabriel Iglesias Presents Stand Up Revolution,” which ran on Comedy Central from 2011 to 2014.
He also has numerous credits on the big screen. He has voiced characters in “EL Americano: The Movie” and “The Nut Job,” and appeared as the drug dealer and DJ in “Magic Mike.”
He is best known for his standup comedy. His subjects frequently include Latin American culture, and obesity (his weight has been a lifelong struggle). He has defined six stages of weight, in ascending order: "Big", "Healthy", "Husky", "Fluffy", "DAMN!!!" and “Oh hell, no.”
A review says:
“It was an amazing experience. . . . I've never laughed so much in my life!”
Gabriel Iglesias (“I’m not fat, I’m fluffy”) will be at the Hard Rock Cincinnati Ballroom on August 16. Promoters of shows like this will often use poster printing to develop fun advertising for them.
