Versatile singer to play Cincinnati

An artist whose genres include folk rock and alternative country is on the way to Cincinnati.

Todd Snider is a Portland, Oregon, native who relocated to Houston, Texas with his family. He ran away at age 15, returning to Portland with a friend, where he finished high school. He then moved to California until his brother, who was living in Austin, Texas, asked him to move again. During his stay in Austin, he saw Jerry Jeff Walker perform, and realized he could make music on his own, without a band.

He moved again, this time to Memphis, Tennessee, where he obtained a residency at the Daily Planet, a club. Keith Sykes, who was with Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band, heard Snider and began to help his career. An acquaintance of Sykes's, John Prine, hired Snider to be his assistant, and eventually to open shows. Finally, Buffett himself heard Snider and signed him.

Of his own music, Snider says he wants it to be everything at once: funny and sad, entertaining and vulnerable, universal and personal. To that end, he tries to write the best lyrics he can, and perform the work in a unique and honest way.

A review says:

“Todd was in great form and sounded awesome. Witty and charismatic as always and played a lot of classics.”

Snider will be at Cincinnati's 20th Century Theater on February 23, 2021, at 8:00 pm. Poster printing is often used to advertise events like this.
