Live at the Fillmore, a tribute group to the Allman Brothers Band, will be in Cincinnati this April.
The appearance is in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Allman's classic album, “At Fillmore East.” The original band got together in 1969 in Jacksonville, Florida, and initially struggled to achieve success. Their initial releases did not do well, but the breakthrough came in 1971 with the live album “At Fillmore East.”
Lou Maresca, who founded Live at the Fillmore, heard the original Allman Brothers Band at Fillmore East Auditorium in New York City, starting in 1970. He was also there when they gave the performance captured on the record now being celebrated. Maresca says that although the original group was described as a “jam band,” that is not the approach his outfit takes. Although they do some improvisation, as a jam band does, they tend to remain as close to the source material as possible, helping the audience to relive their favorites.
A review of the tribute band says:
“If you closed your eyes you would have thought you were actually at an allmans [sic] concert. High energy, engaging, and authentic.”
The concert is scheduled for April 9 at 8:30 pm, and the doors will open at 7:00 pm. Poster printing is often used to publicize events like this.
