Eliot Isaac, Cincinnati's Police Chief, named his new assistant chiefs on Tuesday, February 9.
Isaac, a 27-year veteran of the force, was named to the office on December 15, 2015, and is the city's 15th police chief. He selected three assistant chiefs and an executive assistant chief in the ceremony last week.
Isaac promoted Colonel Dave Baily to the post of executive assistant chief, while Teresa Theetge, Paul Neudigate, and Michael John were sworn in as assistant chiefs. According to John Cranley, the Mayor of Cincinnati, there was no need for Chief Isaac to search outside the Cincinnati Police Department to find the best-qualified officers. Cranley said that at times there is a perception that it is necessary to bring people in from the outside to make changes citizens want, but the best police officers in the country are already in this police department.
Among them, the four newly named chiefs have more than 100 years' experience as law enforcement officers. Three of the four have Bachelor's degrees, and Lt. Col. Theetge has a Master of Science degree. She is also only the second woman in the history of the department to serve in the post of assistant chief.
The police department will need to work with a business card printing company to make sure the newly promoted personnel have cards that accurately reflect their new positions.
