Like father, like son in Cincinnati performance

The sons of two legendary musicians have teamed up to create a sound that honors their roots and forges their own identify at the same time.

Devon Allman, son of Gregg Allman, and Duane Betts, Dickey Betts' son, have formed The Allman Betts Band. The group's performances include original music, as well as songs from the projects the two have done individually, along with classic songs from the Allman Brothers. The new outfit released their first album in 2019, with Chuck Leveall, currently playing keyboard for the Rolling Stones and once with the Allman Brothers; and Peter Levin, formerly with Greg Allman, appearing on the album.

Another tie to the legendary group comes via Berry Oakley Jr., who is the son of Berry Oakley, who played bass in the Allman Brothers Band. John Lum and R. Scott Bryan handle percussion, John Ginty is on the Hammond B3, and Johnny Stachela plays slide guitar, rounding out the line-up.

A review of the band says:

“ . . . while the musical prowess definitely seems to have been passed down, Allman Betts and co. have hit the world . . . with their own amazing presentation . . . powered by one incredible live performance after the other.”

The Allman Betts Band will appear November 1 at 8:00 pm, at Riverfront Live in Cincinnati. Poster printing is often used to advertise events like this.
