Legendary California group coming to Cincinnati

They turned the California sound into one of music’s defining genres, and will be in Cincinnati soon.

The Beach Boys topped the charts consistently with hits like “Little Deuce Coupe,” “Fun, Fun, Fun,” and the iconic “Good Vibrations,” which made use of unusual techniques to create a massive hit. Their close harmony was far different from the sound of the Rolling Stones and other hard rock bands, and they were one of the few bands to hold their own against the “British Invasion” headed by the Beatles.

The Beach Boys got together in 1961 in Hawthorne, California, with the three Wilson brothers, Carl, Dennis, and Brian, their friend Al Jardine, and the Wilson’s cousin Mike Love as the founders. Inspired by black R&B, 1950s rock, and older pop groups, their sound conjured up images of California beaches and resulted in the sale of more than 100 million records throughout the world. The band also influenced the development of such music genres as alternative, progressive rock, psychedelia, and more.

Carl and Dennis Wilson have passed away, and neither Brian Wilson nor Al Jardine still tours, leaving Mike Love as the only original member still on the road. A review notes:

. . . breathtaking music, miraculous sounds and stunning atmosphere, reviving the joy of the first Beach Boys years.”

The Beach Boys will be at the Hard Rock Cincinnati Outdoor Arena on August 11, where concert organizers can use poster printing to create advertising for this type of event.
