Folk/rock star to play Cincinnati

A man whose sound blends Americana, folk, and rock will be in Cincinnati soon.

Todd Snider, who is originally from Portland, Oregon, launched his career in Memphis in the 1980s, when he established a residency at the Daily Planet, a club. Keith Sykes, who was with Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band, heard Snider and helped him get his career underway. Sykes was an acquaintance of Jerry Jeff Walker, a musician Snider admired, and John Prine. After hearing Snider, Prine asked him to begin opening shows. Eventually, Jimmy Buffett heard Snider’s tapes, and soon after signed him.

Snider released his debut album, “Songs for the Daily Planet,” on the MCA label in 1994. He dropped two more albums on that label until he moved to John Prine’s label, Oh Boy Records, where he released “Happy to be Here,” “New Connection,” “Near Truths and Hotel Rooms,” “East Nashville Skyline,” and “Peace Love and Anarchy.” He has continued a prolific recording career, releasing his latest album in 2021.

Snider describes his work by saying he:

“. . . wanted every song to be sad and funny at the same time, vulnerable and entertaining at the same time, personal and universal at the same time.”

Fans agree, saying:

“Todd was in great form and sounded awesome. Witty and charismatic as always . . .”

Snider will be at the 20th Century Theater on August 25 at 8.00 pm. Poster printing is often used to successfully advertise events like this.
