Cosmic Cowboy comes to Cincinnati

A musician who was instrumental (in more ways than one) in founding the “Cosmic Cowboy” movement will appear in Cincinnati.

Michael Martin Murphey is known for performing country, Western, and popular music, as well as his songwriting ability, and has been nominated for the Grammy multiple times. Six of his albums have been certified Gold, including “Cowboy Songs,” the first cowboy music album to reach that milestone since 1959, when the legendary Marty Robbins released “Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs.”

A native of Texas, Murphey has zigzagged through several musical genres and moved physically as well. It was in the 1970s in Texas that Murphey, along with other artists such as Gary P. Nunn and Jerry Jeff Walker, founded the “Cosmic Cowboy” effort, which then led to the creation of the “Outlaw country” movement that appealed to stars like Willie Nelson.

In the 1980s, he hit the top of the country charts with his single “Still Taking Chances.” This brought him to the attention of the Academy of Country Music, which awarded him the “Best New Artist” accolade in 1982. In his career, he has collected dozens of awards and nominations, and continues to record, releasing his latest album, “Road Beyond the View,” in 2022.

One review writes:

“What a great show and performance by Michael Martin Murphy. It was so relaxing and wonderful to . . . [enjoy] his songs.”

Murphey will be at the Ludlow Garage on Friday, March 10. Such venues can advertise an event like this using poster printing.
