Metro, the public transportation agency serving Cincinnati, has opened a new transfer point.
The new Uptown Transit District is located close to University Hospital as well as the University of Cincinnati. The transit district is designed to make it easier for riders to transfer between buses, rather than having to go to Government Square to do so.
The new district is designed to serve as the major transfer and connection point for a number of Metro routes. It features boarding sites in four locations, including Clifton Heights, the University of Cincinnati (on Jefferson), the area near the medical center – which includes both University Hospital and the Children's Hospital – and Vine, between Calhoun and McMillian.
The new transit district offers riders many amenities, including information delivered in real time, improved sidewalks and streetscapes in certain areas, sheltered boarding areas with distinctive design, information kiosks, and ticket vending machines. The new transit district cost approximately $7 million.
Metro, which is a non-profit public service funded by tax dollars, is operated by the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority. It provides approximately 17 million rides annually to patrons throughout Cincinnati and the region.
Metro will need to Print schedules to account for the new locations, and it would probably be easiest to work with brochure printers to create these Booklets. They could be mailed to residents as well as being displayed in racks throughout the Metro system.
