Harry Potter fans have a treat in store, when the wizarding world comes to Cincinnati early next month.
The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra will offer a Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban concert. The event is a type of performance that is becoming increasingly popular, in which an orchestra plays the music of a film live, while the film itself is shown. In this case, the movie is the third in the Harry Potter series, which sees Harry meeting his godfather, Sirius Black, riding the nausea-inducing Knight Bus, and battling the terrifying Dementors.
The score was composed by the prolific John Williams, the third, and last, time he wrote music for this film series. He also conducted the score, which was recorded at London's Abbey Road Studios in 2004.
Williams introduced two major themes in the score; “Double Trouble” and “Window to the Past.” The first sets the scene for the students' return to Hogwarts, with the lyrics coming directly from the witches in “Macbeth.” The second is a quiet moment between Harry and Remus Lupin. Other themes are introduced that support the use of the Time-Turner, and Sirius Black, and his search for Harry. The album was nominated for a Grammy, an Oscar, and the World Soundtrack Award.
The concert will run from 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm on January 3, 2020, at the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra on Elm Street. Flyer printing can be used to devise informative programs for musical events like this.
