Cincinnati foodies have a new eatery to explore

Cindy Yantarasri and Toon Yongkanaysin, who own the Zab Thai restaurant located in Loveland, are opening a second location.

The new eatery will take over the space formerly occupied by Mekong Thai, the owners of which are leaving Cincinnati. Yantarasri and Yongkanaysin are calling their second establishment ‘Bangkok Street’. Located on Montgomery Road in the Kenwood area, they anticipate being able to open the venue in late September.

Cindy Yantarasri was the co-owner of Hyde Park's Beluga, where Toon Yongkanaysin was the chef. They closed Beluga and started up Zab Thai, and now are creating Bangkok Street. The restaurant features modern décor, Thai dishes catering to American tastes, and home-style cooking.

Yantarasri and Yongkanaysin are keeping many of the same menu items they feature at Zab Thai, but also intend to offer variations on old favorites, as well as increasing the number of home-style items, and added more desserts to the menu. They have also changed the old Mekong interior by ripping out the floor, booths, and walls, leaving space to easily rearrange tables for dining banquet-style.

Yantarasri and Yongkanaysin could work with a flyer printing company to create handouts to be distributed near the restaurant on opening day. They might include specials or coupons for discounts in celebration of the opening.
