Cincinnati awaits tribute to iconic rock group

A tribute band for one of the biggest bands ever will be in Cincinnati soon.

“Almost Queen: A Tribute to Queen” honors the legacy of the band that gave its fans monster hits like “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “We Will Rock You.” Although frontman Freddie Mercury died in 1991, Queen continues to rock, selling between 250 and 300 million records, making them one of history’s most successful bands.

The lead singer of the tribute band is Joseph Russo, who appears as Freddie Mercury. Russo fell in love with Queen when he was ten and saw them live. He has a background in musical theater and has played lead roles in shows like “Hair” and “Evita.”

Steve Leonard is the lead guitarist. He discovered Queen when he heard their anthem “We Will Rock You” at a baseball game in Shea Stadium. In addition to working with the tribute band, he is a songwriter and has several albums to his credit.

Bassist Randy Gregg has toured the world in support of rock bands when he’s not appearing with Almost Queen. Drummer John Cappadona, a natural performer, rounds out the group. A review says:
“ . . . Almost Queen delivers a high-energy live performance that showcases Queen’s signature four-part harmonies, lavish costumes, and intricate musical interludes.”

“Almost Queen: A Tribute to Queen” will be at the Ludlow Garage on Friday, November 10. Attention-grabbing Posters are often used to publicize events like this, and can be created by promoters using poster printing methods.
