Mike Zito and Albert Castiglia are releasing a new CD, “Blood Brothers,” and are on the road supporting it. Zito was only five when he began playing the guitar, and was still a teenager when he began playing gigs across St. Louis. In 2008, he signed with Eclecto Groove Records and released his album, “Pearl River,” in 2009. The title track from that album won in the Blues Music Awards’ category “Song of the Year.”
Zito went on to work with the Royal Southern Brotherhood. With this group, he released a series of widely acclaimed albums that peaked with the nomination of “Greyhound,” which he dropped in 2011, as “Best Rock Blues Album.”
Like his friend Zito, Castiglia began his musical career when he was a child. He is a native of New York City but moved with his family to Miami, and in 1997 the Miami New Times named him the “best blues guitarist in Miami .”
Josh Smith and none other than celebrated guitarist Joe Bonamassa produced “Blood Brothers.” Bonamassa said Castiglia and Zito have the kind of chemistry few artists do, noting:
“They finish each other’s sentences musically . . . Great tunes, great people, great hang! What’s not to like?”
The two will be at the Ludlow Garage on February 16. Poster printing is an effective method for organizers to use to promote events like this.
