ArtsWave fundraiser makes history

ArtsWave, a nonprofit Cincinnati organization devoted to supporting the arts, ended its 2015 Community Campaign with its best year ever, it has been confirmed.

The organization raised over $12.25m, approximately a quarter-million dollars more than last year, which was the record up to that time.

The success of the campaign, according to Tom William, who chaired it, is another indication of how much residents of Cincinnati care about their city and the organizations that enrich the community. There are more than 100 arts organizations in the Greater Cincinnati area supported by ArtsWave.

Among the achievements this year are the fact that more than 4,000 donors under 40 years of age contributed more than $600,000 to the effort, plus 7,660 new donors joined the campaign. Furthermore, 67local businesses helped out either by matching employee contributions, or by making Corporate Gifts—for the first time.

Most of the money came from individual donors who gave small amounts—the most common donation was $75. Tickets to Reds games were given to new donors who contributed $75; the incentive brought in 2,500 new donations. Companies ran workplace donation campaigns, and a singing competition called CincySings, raised $40,000.

ArtsWave is the largest campaign in the nation that supports the arts, as well as being one of the oldest, having begun in 1949.

ArtsWave officials are already thinking about 2016. They could work with a poster printing company on a gorgeous display poster for next year.
