Although she originally wished to become a dancer, Suzanne Vega used her artistic talent to become a songwriter and singer. Vega attended the famed High School of Performing Arts in New York City, and went on to Barnard College to study English literature. During this time, she also performed in local venues, and had some of her songs published as part of anthology albums.
She began to make real progress with the release of her initial album, 1985’s “Suzanne Vega,” which was a critical success. Since it appeared, it has sold almost two million Copies, and was mentioned in the book “1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.” Her next album was “Solitude Standing,” which gave birth to two massive single hits in the U.S., “Tom’s Diner” and “Luka.”
Vega has released a total of nine albums, releasing her most recent, “Lover, Beloved: Songs from an Evening with Carson McCullers,” in 2016. The album prior to this, 2014’s “Tales from the Realm of the Queen of Pentacles,” charted, the first time Vega hit the Top 40 in the U.K. in more than twenty years. A review says:
“After more than 40 years of performing, Vega’s voice still sounds incredible; she’s a fantastic singer.”
Suzanne Vega will be at Cincinnati’s Memorial Hall on April 15. Organizers of this type of performance will often publicize it using poster printing.Get a Free Quote for Copies
