Remembering Judy Garland in Cincinnati

A special concert will bring back memories of one of the nation’s most beloved stars, Judy Garland.

The Cincinnati Pops are presenting their “Judy Garland Centennial,” which will be held at the Cincinnati Music Hall. John Morris Russell (JMR), the orchestra’s conductor, will be on the podium, and popular favorite Michael Feinstein is the special guest.

The day will be a celebration of Judy Garland’s 100th birthday, and will include clips from her feature films, rare recordings, photos that have never been seen, and her fantastic music. Event organizers will explore her early career via her adventures in “The Wizard of Oz,” her television appearances, and her live concerts. Audiences will hear hits like “Over the Rainbow,” “Get Happy,” and more.

Judy Garland was born June 19, 1922, and began performing when she was a child. She and her two older sisters were vaudeville artists known as “The Gumm Sisters.” Her early work won her a contract with MGM when she was a teenager, and she made over 20 films for the studio. Although her filmography is extensive, as is her work in television and theater, she is best known as Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz.”

The performance is set for November 13 from 12:00pm until 5:00pm. Tickets are around $80.00, and an RSVP is requested by November 1. Events like these can be enhanced when organizers use brochure printing to create programs for the audience.
