Partners onstage and off, Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo met in 1979. The year before, she had been singing at Tramps, a nightclub in New York City, and recording jingles for Pepsi. Her talent impressed several record executives and Chrysalis Records signed her. In 1979, producer Mike Chapman introduced her to Neil Giraldo, who was beginning his career as a guitarist. It was Chapman’s belief that Benetar needed to be paired with someone who would help her create a more aggressive sound, and he felt Giraldo was the ideal choice, as he was as strong and dedicated as she was.
Since then, the duo has released hit after hit including “We Live for Love,” “Promises in the Dark,” “Invincible,” “We Belong,” “Heartbreaker,” and the iconic “Love is a Battlefield.” The pair has three gold albums, five platinum albums, and two multiplatinum albums to their credit, along with 19 hits that made it into the Top 40. They have won four Grammys in a row and sold more than 30 million records throughout the world.
A review of Benetar and Giraldo in concert says:
“Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo were FANTASTIC. DEFINITELY deserves to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”
The artists will be at the Hard Rock Cincinnati Ballroom on June 18. Events like this are enhanced when organizers create colorful advertising using poster printing.
