Popular vocalist comes to Cincinnati
A vocalist and drummer who began his career as a teen is coming to Cincinnati.
Jeffrey Osborne is a native of Providence, Rhode Island, whose father, Clarence “Legs” Osborne, played the trumpet and sat in with stars like Duke Ellington and Lionel Hampton. He received numerous offers to join top bands, but preferred to remain with his family. The elder Osborne passed away when Jeffrey was 13, but the young man followed his father and sat in with the O’Jays when he was 15, playing with the band for two weeks. His experience propelled him to a career in music.
He soon began playing with another band, Love Men Ltd., and went to Los Angeles with them. The group changed the name to “L.T.D.” and Osborne, who was originally their drummer, took over lead vocals. He was with L.T.D. for over ten years, then went solo. He had numerous soul and R&B Top 40 hits including “Stay With Me Tonight,” and “Love Power,” a duet he performed with Dionne Warwick.
Osborne is continuing to perform and tour the world. He founded the Jeffrey Osborne Foundation in 2012, which has donated more than $1 million to Rhode Island charities. A performance review says:
Osborne will be at the Ludlow Garage in Cincinnati on May 17. Performances like this are often advertised with posters, which organizers can order at print shops.
