Two musicians who have enjoyed a whirlwind two years are coming to Cincinnati.
Black Pumas comprises Eric Burton and Adrian Quesada; the former is a singer/songwriter, and the latter plays the guitar and handles the duties of producing their work. Black Pumas was nominated for a Grammy as Best New Artist in 2019. The group works in the psychedelic soul, soul, and R&B genres.
California native Eric Burton grew up singing, first in church, then in musical theater, then busking in Santa Monica. He settled in Austin at the same time Adrian Quesada, a Grammy-winner, wanted a new collaborator. A mutual friend introduced them, and Quesada felt Burton's talents would work well with his R&B and funk style. The two became Black Pumas in 2018.
The year 2019 was a good one for the pair, who released “Black Pumas,” their debut album; performed at the major music festival South by Southwest; and received a “Best New Band” award at the Austin Music Awards. In November 2019, they were nominated as “Best New Artist” by the Grammy Awards. They also began performing on television, and continue to appear on the small screen.
A review says:
“The show was fantastic. Great mix of soul, funk, guitar, and singing. . . . I would definitely go see these guys again.”
Black Pumas will be in Cincinnati on August 25, at 9:00 pm, at the 20th Century Theater. Brochure printing is often used to create programs for events like this.
