Pop vocalist to appear in Cincinnati

He has been entertaining audiences since the 1950s and is now on his way to Cincinnati.

Engelbert Humperdinck is the stage name of the English musician Arnold George Dorsey, who was born in Madras in India, but grew up in Leicester, England. He released “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again,” his debut single, in 1958, which was the beginning of a solid career that continues, despite the public’s changing taste in music.

Humperdinck’s biggest successes came in the 1960s, when songs like “Release Me” were more popular than the Beatles’ hits like “Penny Lane.” “Release Me” was a No. 1 hit and sold more than a million copies. It was also at this time that Humperdinck was labeled a “crooner,” a title he dislikes.

His popularity in the UK spread to the US in the 1970s, and he has continued to perform and record to the present day. Now in his 70s, the singer is as energetic and engaging as ever. When performances like this are scheduled, organizers can use brochure printing to create informative programs for audience members.

A review says:

“Engelbert Humperdinck is . . . [a pro] and his live shows do not disappoint. His voice is rich and focused and delivered with such suave that the hearts of the audience will melt away.”

Humperdinck will appear at the Taft Theatre in Cincinnati on May 6.
