Longstanding Cincinnati hotel to be renovated

The historic Manchester Hotel, as well as the Snider Building that adjoins it, have been bought by Manchester Hotel LLC.

Renovations have already begun, even though the deal only closed at the end of last month. The cost of the work is estimated to be $10m.

The managing member of the new group of owners is the Historic Urban Development LLC, which is based in Geneva, Illinois. William Grau, who is associated with the organization, says the plan is to restore the hotel's facade to the appearance it had when it was first built in 1922. Grau noted that the hotel had been shut down for over three years, and needed immediate work. He identified some of the problems as mold, a leaky roof, and structural integrity of the hotel's canopies.

When renovations are finished, the Manchester will open its doors once again as a functioning hotel. Among the amenities, the Manchester will offer a banquet hall comprising 8,000 square feet, conference rooms and other meeting spaces offering thousands of square feet, and a full-service bar and restaurant. It is expected that the hotel will employ 73 workers, both full-time and part-time, when it reopens. The Manchester has also been nominated for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places.

Management could work with a banner printing company to create a Print to display above the door to celebrate the reopening.
